Plucked from a trash bin, this little pug mix is looking for a home

She may have been found in a dumpster but Toronto Humane Society officials hope someone will treasure this trashed dog.
The little pug mix, dubbed Nina by the Humane Society, is in the care of its River St. shelter after being plucked from a dumpster in Scarborough early Sunday morning.
Senior communicator Ian McConachie said a good Samaritan heard her whining and found her trapped at the bottom of a bin along Canadian Dr. near Warden Ave. and Ellesmere Rd.
It's "horrific" to think the dog had no food or water and could have been trapped in the dumpster for days, McConachie said yesterday.
He stressed people should know better and pets deserve better from their owners.
"Don't abandon your pets to fend for themselves, there are SPCAs and humane societies to take care of them. Bring your dog or cat down here and we'll provide it a good home," McConachie said.
Vets will spend the week checking out the dog but hope to have her up for adoption by the weekend.
Despite her dumpster dive, the dog is very sweet and affectionate, officials said.
It's not the first time a pet has been pulled from a pile of Toronto trash.
A Lhasa Apso named Charlie was found in a recycling bin behind a North York condo March 26. Toronto Animal Services adopted the dog to a new family in April.
In June, five newborn kittens -- with their umbilical cords still attached -- were rescued after a Toronto District School Board employee heard meowing in a dumpster behind Central Technical School, on Bathurst St. near Bloor St. Most of those cats have been adopted, McConachie said.

This ticks me right off. Every time I hear a story about an animal being thrown out like trash I wish I could get my hands on the people who did it. And it's not that rare at all. Not too long ago here, in my small town, a bag of kittens was found at the dump (thankfully alive) 
Makes you wonder what kind of a person could do that
