 Inactive Accounts
« Thread Started on Apr 9, 2008, 5:13pm »

Starting this month (April, 2008) I'm going to start a new system on how to handle inactive accounts (don't panic just yet; this will be a bi-yearly occurance ;)). I understand the different reasons for joining a forum and then never posting, or only making a couple posts in the begining. There are are a few understandable reasons for why some people may do this, so I won't be going around hacking all my members away every six months without keeping track of who's posting or not posting when and contacting those I am even considering deleting.

Why delete inactive accounts?
For one; what's the sense in keeping accounts around that aren't even being used? For another, it actually makes the forum appear to have a high member count with a low posting count which kind of makes it look bad.

Do you have to fear about your account being deleted?
If you're a regular poster (this means you've had more than 2 posts in a one month's span) you have nothing to worry about. If you're someone who posted a question once, had it answered and still "lurk" around the board but feel you have nothing more to contribute you might have to worry, but just slightly :P When the time comes to throw out old, unused accounts I will contact each individual I am considering deleting either via PM or E-mail and if I do not get some for of a reply within 2 weeks the account will be considered as completely inactive.
So if you do get a note from me wondering if you're still hanging around, it's best to send a note back ;) If I'm messaging you through e-mail it might go straight to your junk mail. Because of this I've devised a "save your account" stratagey at the board. Every six months after contacting these individuals I will also post in this thread with a list of the accounts being considered for deletion. If your account is on that list and you wish to keep it safe, post a reply and let me know ;) If you've replied via e-mail or PM it isn't neccessary to reply to put you on the safe list ;)

I hope all this makes sense. For the most part no one has anything to worry about right now ;) I will not be deleting any accounts until October 1st ;)

;D I don't think you have to worry :P I wrote out all the members in the members list and your account has a note to not even be up for debate about deletion for a year (and that's only if you become inactive ;)).
