Can small dogs enter competitions?

I have a shih-poo. (Shih-tzu & poodle). He is one years old. Very fast and jumps very high. I was wondering if he'll be able to enter competitions. I am unsure because he is a mix breed and because he is a small dog. Any tips on how to get started will help as well. Thanks.
