We started with a Boston so it was sort of cute to every one else when he would chase the cats. Mostly because he could never catch them and they were about twice his size. Now we have a pointer.... When he found us he was skin and bones, terrified of loud noises, the brooms and oddly enough food. We trained him up on that taught him food is ok even when others are around and now he mostly leaves the broom be preferring instead to sit next to people waiting to get pet. Unfortunately he is an outside dog and I know they are much happier inside, but we have cats.
I'm afraid that the Boston may have taught our Pointer to chase the cats. We've seen him catch them and all he does is either roll them over to smell their bellies for a bit or carries them around in his mouth for a bit.
This terrifies the cats and he thinks he did a good job, but they should be able to live in peace.
I was looking for any training tips to be able to bring our outside baby inside so we all can live in peace!
