The recent "Swiffer WeJet" rummor I heard and looked into inspired me to do a little more research on the subject of Cleaning Products and your Pets
Safety Tips While Using Cleaning Products:
Most of these tips SHOULD be common knowledge, but I'll put them up here anyway
Here are some interesting, helpful links that I think are worth a read.
Natural Cleaners
Canadian Health Network - Some good information about safety use of cleaning products that applies to you and your furry family.
Household Hazards to Your Pet - includes non cleaning product items that are found in a most homes that you may have never suspected of being hazardous to your pet!
REMEMBER: if you hear rummors about a product that is killing off pets it is best to do your own research first. Look it up on the internet (just about ANYTHING can be found on the world wide web these days - but this does NOT mean everything is true so it's best to do thourough research through several different sources). Find out for yourself if it is true and what methods you can take to keep your pet safe

- Always keep all cleaning products up high or locked up where your pet (and children!) can NOT get into them. At our house in the laundry room we have a VERY large heavy duity shelf that all cleaning prodcucts get stored on the top of. If your pets are anything like mine putting them under your sink in the cupboards won't be enough to keep them out of there unless there is some kind of lock on the cupboard doors!
- While cleaning with the products keep your pets locked in a secure, safe place (where they won't get into trouble) away from the product itself and any fumes they may inhale.
- Check all labels of your products to see what ingredients are in them. If you can, try using more "natural" cleaning products that are tested and safe for pets and people.
- If by chance your pet does manage to ingest/inhale a harmful cleaning product CONTACT YOUR VET IMMEDIATELY! It is important to have the number handy for emergencies. You can also try contacting poison control for more information on the product, side effects etc.
