Does anyone know any good methods on how to remove sap from a dogs coat? Linkin's belly and one leg are COVERED in sap. I bathed him today and before lathering him with dog shampoo I scrubbed these areas with dish soap. It worked to get the sap off our floor, but apparenlty no so much for it stuck in fur. It got SOME of it out, but a lot is still stuck in there. I've had to cut some of the bigger, looser chunks out but there's still a lot stuck close to the skin. Damn dog, I swear sometimes he thinks he's a squirrel or something Can't convince him NOT to try and climb trees

On Yahoo! answers they say to use ice cubes or baby oil. Another site said to use butter. Petfinder.com said peanut butter or cooking oil.

I've heard about ice cubes and peanut butter (works for gum stuck in hair too).
I will try the ice cube thing first because I JUST bathed Linkin so I'd rather not go smudging oil/peanut butter in his fur but if it doesn't work I'll try them.
Thanks! ;D

My late GSD Princess used to try to climb trees after squirrels. Yes, sap all over. I used to use Baby oil. Then, I would just wash that area like a sponge bath. And she smelled so cute after!

LOL I guess they would smell nice afterwards. My after-shaving leg gel is baby oil based and it smells awesome. But then, it would be kind of weird for a dog to remind me of shaving my legs... </ramble>
