Okay, I finally got a cell. Rex changes from a puppy acting dog into Cujo if I have it on vibrate. It could be just vibrate, or vibrate with ringtone. Doesn't matter. How can I train this out?

How is he acting like Cujo? Snarls and barks? Hackles up? Is this behavior directed AT the phone or does he not know exactly what's making the noise? Have you let him investigate it? First try when it's not making the noise; put it down and let him sniff it. My brain isn't working fully because I just got up, but once I wake up a bit and know some more details I'll try and help out more

Yes his anger is at the phone! Spit will fly, and I go deaf with the barking. He is fine if it is just the ringtone, I think maybe the frequency of the vibration, somehow hurts his ears. So no vibrate mode anymore around poor Poohbear!

Yeah that's really weird. I don't have a cellphone but brought my mom's to Salmon Arm and I had it on Vibration most of the time because my family sometimes phoned during class or obedience, and the vibration never bothered Linkin. I guess if it's just the vibration and it is bothering his ears or something the best thing would be to just not have it on It doesn't bother Baby though, eh? Hmmm... this is just weird, I think I might do some research on it because it appeals to me

It doesn't bother Baby, she is almost 8 and I think getting a bit deaf. When it rings, she looks all around, like where is that coming from. With the vibrate mode, she just tried to attack Rex to make him stop being a jerk.

I forgot to say what happened! I figured out that Rex was protecting me from the vibrating tone. So, I took him on a long hike, then threw a ball for him until my arm fell off, then we went in the den. There, I stacked treats, and my cell. Told him, "leave it" and called the cell on my cordless. All he did was drool. I treated, and 10 minutes later, tried it again, and of course, there was still treats by the phone. He ignored the vibrating tone again. Treat and release. Today, I had the cell with me, and I had it on ring/vibrate because I was doing outside gardening, and wasn't sure that I would hear, because of wind. He came and nudged me when it started, and I gave him a treat that I had in my other pocket, because, hey, he figured vibrate means treat. So, I think problem solved!

LOL! Awe, that's great! And hey, if it's on vibrate and you don't realize it's ringing now you have someone to let you know! ;D
