July 12 there is a Fun Trial in PG I'd like to take Linkin too. AAC cards aren't needed so I don't have to worry about that (haven't sent away for his yet, have the papers and everything just haven't gotten around to it). I haven't gotten a reply yet on whether or not training collars are allowed on the grounds, if not I'm not sure how I'll be able to control crazy Linkin in such an environment
We haven't been practicing a whole lot this summer, but we will up until the Fun Trial (oh, Fun Trials are just as they sound... treats and toys are allowed in the ring, points don't matter, it's all just for fun). If I feel he's not ready in any way even for a fun trial I still may bring him just to get him use to the agility crowd scene (I asked and the lady said it is allowed and that a lot of people bring their young dogs just for socialization).
She did say afterwards they generally go to the house and let the dogs play in the (fenced) yard... she said they had up to 28 dogs there playing together before To me that's just disaster waiting to happen and I don't know how Linkin would react in such an environment so I probably wouldn't let him loose for that.
Either way, if we enter or we're there just for socialization I think it will be a good experience for him and I. Coal and I's first trial (my first trial too!) I felt so stressed and under pressure and scared that when he took off across the arena I nearly peed my pants I did end up crying at one point and was going to scratch him from the rest of the day, but pulled it together and finished (and he did amazingly well I might add!). So I think my first "trial" with Linkin would be good in such an easy going, relaxed environment that's designed for new dogs and owners.
