So, although it is now officially Fall, the dogs have fleas. BAD. We didn't really have a problem with it during the spring and summer, only seeing a few, but it has gotten out of control over the past few weeks. They are never around any other dogs, so we have no clue how it's gotten so bad so quickly.
It is much easier to see them on Bo because of his mostly white fur, and he has had them in colonies. He has been biting around his butt and tail like crazy lately, even losing some hair and developing scabs. Dawber has been scratching, too, but even when he is flea free, he scratches (his skin is really dry in his old age, I guess). We always use a flea shampoo on both of the dogs, usually giving them 2 or 3 baths a month. I heard that you should only bathe dogs once a month or so, but with my pet dander allergies, that is just not an option.
Last weekend, I went out and got both dogs a flea collar and upholstery spray, and it seems like we are getting the bugs under control. Hopefully with the colder weather on it's way, we will get rid of them completely.

Ugh, that sucks! I hope you can get rid of them soon!
I'm glad we don't have fleas here!
