Hi Everyone I thought we would introduce ourselves....
I am Shalva and I share my home with seven retrievers, goldens and flat coated retrievers and at the present time a litter of four day old golden retriever pups. We show and compete in obedience, hunt, and will be adding agility and rally to the mix once the pups are gone and I have the time once again. We breed for conformation BUT also working ability, it is very important to us that our dogs be able to do what the breeds were intended to do.
The dogs range in age from meghan our foundation bitch who is 8.5 to the puppies from my litters this past summer Meir 21 mos and Emmett 17 mos. We will be keeping a girl puppy from this current litter, we just don't know who yet.
I am a University Professor and my husband an engineer who also teaches obedience. I don't breed often, only when we are planning to keep a puppy and at the present time we are planning to import a puppy from the UK as soon as the right pup hits the ground. All of our current dogs aside from the puppies are finished champions, Meghan having gone to Westminster Kennel Club dog show in NYC a few years ago and others attending several Eukaneuba Championship shows...some have obedience titles, and several are trained hunting dogs. It is important that they maintain their instincts and drive as retrievers and as such I breed for dual purpose dogs....
I am a stained glass artist in my spare time..... and help out our national rescue chair as well.... I dont believe that any breeder should breed if they don't also rescue... so needless to say we are quite busy....
I am not sure what else to say... so that is it in a nutshell.....
so with no further ado.....
these are my kids
