On Sunday I brought Linkin to his old family's home for a visit. I got him from them because he was knocking down their little kids, kept outside all the time, and they didn't have the time for him that he demands. So, after 6 months I brought him back for a visit and so they could see what I've done with him.
It went over really well. I showed them some of his tricks and his obedience, and thank god he was very well behaved. He's an extremely high energy do so I was really surprised that with all the comotion of everyone hugging and talking to him and all the kids (there was about 6 kids there) that he didn't jump on a single person ;D
I never knew what an awesome temperment this dog has until I brought him there... those kids were ALL over him. Tugging on him, climbing on him, chasing him, driving toy trucks down his back, and he took it all. In fact he ENJOYED it! He cahsed them around and didn't nip at anyone! He's normally really bad for mouthing but he did REALLY good! I watched him open his mouth and make noises at their little boy who's 3 years old but not once did he close his mouth on that kid.
I made sure to watch him really closely to make sure he didn't get out of hand with the kids or to see if he couldn't take their pestering him anymore but when he'd get to that point he'd simply tuck tail and run to me! He'd lay at my feet for about 5-10 minutes and then when he felt ready he'd go and play with the kids again.
I was impressed at how well behaved he was, and THEY were impressed with it too. They told me he's deffinatly in good hands and is getting the attention and time he needs. They said he's improved so much they can't believe he's the same dog! That made me feel so warm and gooey inside because he honestly was the WORST dog I'd ever gotten The first three weeks I had him was HELL, I remember I Must have phoned my mom on a daily basis crying and complaining that I just can't handle this dog!
I was really impressed with how he was with the kids though. My lab + Coal isn't a big fan of kids... I know if he was there within 5 minutes someone would have gotten bit! I'm considering getting Linkin's Canine Good Neighbor and getting him into Pet Therapy, I think he would do REALLY good at that!
