I'm not sure exactly what kennel clubs it's registered with. I know it's not in the CKC or AKC... I'd say it's kind of duel purpose breed. Like the German Shepherd, it was originally used for herding but is used for herding and guarding these days.

Close again, you've got the drive just about right now... Here's a bit of a discription off a website: The __________ is considered a rare breed as he is almost unknown outside his native Holland. This is due in part to the enormous popularity of his cousin, the German Shepherd.
